Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. Start by making the almond filling. In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, egg, almond flour, sugar, almond extract, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined. Set aside. Then, make the dough. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and greek yogurt. Mix together until a dough forms. If the dough seems to sticky, add in 1 tbsp more flour at a time, until the dough comes together and is moldable without sticking to your hands too much. Lay the dough on a floured surface and knead with your hands a couple of times. Divide the dough into 2 pieces and roll each out into a thin circle, about 1/4” thick. Place the bottom circle on the prepared baking sheet. Top with the almond filling, and then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Then, place the other circle on top of the filled one. Place a 2-3 inch roof object or bowl in the center and make an indent (this is the center of the star). Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut 10 even strips around the circle. Using both hands, grab two strips and gently twist them away from each other 2-3 times, then press the two ends together to make a point. Your star bread will have 5 points. Brush the egg wash on top of the star. Bake at 375F for 24-26 minutes, or until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!View original recipe
