Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200F. Line 3 baking sheets with parchment paper; set aside. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast, and stir to combine. Let sit for at least 5 minutes. Add in the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, salt, and vanilla, and whisk to combine. Add in the flour, and use a wooden spoon to mix until the dough comes together. Remove the dough from the bowl and knead the dough a couple of times on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Turn off the oven and place the bowl in the oven for 15 minutes, leaving the oven door slightly open. Remove the dough from the oven and preheat again to 200F. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out into a ¼” thick rectangle or square. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut out 2” squares. Place the squares on the prepared baking sheets. Then, turn the oven off and place the baking sheets in the oven for about 30 minutes, allowing the beignets to rise and get puffy. Leave the oven door slightly open. Remove the baking sheets from the oven and preheat to 375F. Brush the tops of the beignets with milk. Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Make the chocolate dipping sauce. Melt together the chocolate chips and milk in the microwave at 30-second intervals. Once melted, mix in the granola butter. Let cool for 5 minutes and then dust with a generous amount of powdered sugar. Serve immediately with chocolate dipping sauce. Enjoy!View original recipe
