Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. Slice the croissants in half and place on the baking sheet with the middle side up. On the stove over medium heat, melt the water and sugar together until the sugar crystals are dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the almond extract. Set aside. In a medium bowl, combine the butter, granola butter, egg, almond flour, sugar, almond extract, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix together until smooth. Brush the simple syrup generously on the cut sides of the croissants. Then, spread ~1 tbsp of the almond filling on the bottom halves of each croissant. Place the top halves on top to sandwich and then brush the tops of the croissants with the simple syrup. Add another 1 tbsp of the almond filling on top of each croissant, and use a spoon or butter knife to spread. Top and press sliced almonds on top of each croissant, making sure they stick. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm. Enjoy!View original recipe
