What you need

tbsp unsweetened cocoa

cup all purpose flour

tbsp sugar

oz chocolate chips

tsp vanilla extract

brown egg

cup unsalted butter
Instructions
Start by making the fudge filling. Place the chocolate, milk, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir as the chocolate melts. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into a bowl, cover, and place in the fridge to thicken. In a food processor, combine all ingredients for the dough except water and egg. Pulse until the mixture is clumpy. Add ½ cup of ice cold water, and pulse. Roll out into ⅛” thickness, and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out into an even number of individual hearts. Place 1 tbsp of the filling in the middle of half of the hearts, leaving a border. Brush the edges with the beaten egg. Then, lay the other half of the hearts over the filled ones. Seal by crimping the edges with the back of a fork. Repeat. There will be leftover fudge filling. Place the poptarts on a baking sheet with parchment paper, cover, and place in the fridge for about 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 400F. Remove the poptarts from the fridge and brush the tops with the remaining egg wash. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely before frosting. Frost the poptarts with the remaining fudge filling, or use chocolate frosting of choice. Sprinkle the tops with Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles if desired. Enjoy!View original recipe
